A New Era Begins - South Africa

Australian Test Squad: Phillip Hughes, Simon Katich, Ricky Ponting (c), Michael Clarke (vc), Michael Hussey, Marcus North, Andrew Macdonald, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Peter Siddle, Doug Bollinger, Bryce McGain, Ben Hilfenhaus.

Well, it's here! My beloved Australian cricket team has touched down in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the beginning of a new era! They are saying that this is the most inexperienced Australian squad ever to tour SA, and it's easy to see why! The most exciting thing is, 8 of the 14 players have played less than ten matches, and 4 of those are yet to play a test, and looking at the individuals selected, it is talented enough to win the series!

It's nice to see Marcus North in the touring party. He has thoroughly deserved he spot, and lets hope that some of the wickets have a bit of turn in them so he can have a go! And I'm so happy for Bryce McGain! By far the best spinner in Australia since the retirement of Warnie, Macca and Hoggy. Lets hope he can give it a good rip! I really feel for Nathan Hauritz, he's done everything he's been asked to do, but there is just no room for his offies in this set up. I've seen Phil Hughes play a number of games for NSW. He's a beautiful cutter of the ball, and I can tell you he will slot in  nicely next to Simon Katich at the top of the order.

Well, there has not been a more important series for Australia since the 2006-2007 Ashes, and if we can pull of a series win, there will be no looking back. This country once dominated cricket for decades, and I'm confident it will do again! Good luck boys, and good luck to the South Africans too! Bring on Feb 26th, it's going to be a cracker!
